Top 5 reasons why Oslo is the best city to explore on e-scooters


In the past few years, electric scooters have popped up everywhere. In a short period they have taken over the world by storm and they became an inseparable part of Oslo's public transport. Quick, simple and easy to ride but mostly being in the core of Norwegians sustainable living scooters won everybody's hearts.

1) Oslo is an electric scooter friendly city

Even with such a high popularity, the truth is not all European allow the use of electric scooters. Most of them still rely on use of exclusively city bikes as the alternative ecofriendly option. Together with Berlin, Oslo is the largest city for scooters in Europe, with more than 8 000 available from multiple operators.


2) Oslo has great infrastructure within the city for e-scooter exploration

Much of the city has its own cycle lanes while others are integrated into the road. With wide and smooth streets, light city traffic their own cycle traffic lights the roads are pretty safe for riding. However, if you need, you can also take your scooter on a sidewalks and pavements. Just have to be considerate of the pedestrians and other scooter users.


3) You do not need a driving license to ride an e-scooter

Even if being classified as a vehicle, you don’t need a drivers license to drive an electric scooter, and anyone above the age limit can ride one. These rules applies for both rental and private electric scooters. However, to ride an electric scooter you need to be at least 12 years old and if you’re under the age of 15, you are legally required to wear a helmet when driving.


4) There is no speed limit on scooters

The speed on electric scooters is capped at 20 km/h so even in full speed you will get places but you don’t have to worry about getting a speeding ticket
